Message From OLM’s Parish Priest: Fr. Cyprian Malongo Shikokoti

Message From OLM’s New Parish Priest:   My full names are Fr. Cyprian Malongo Shikokoti.  I however prefer to be called Fr Cyprian or Fr Cyp (pronounced as ‘sip’).  I was born and raised in western Kenya in the little village town of Eregi.  I am the firstborn of eight children to my late father Mr Alfred Usete Shikokoti and my mother Jane Usete.  I arrived in Australia in October 2006 and ordained to the priesthood on 4/3/2011 at St Mary’s Cathedral for the archdiocese by Emeritus Archbishop Hickey.  During my priesthood journey I’ve have served as a student, a Deacon and an Assistant Priest in this diocese.   For last five years I’ve been serving as Catholic Chaplain to Murdoch University and UWA.  I look forward with great excitement to my first appointment as Parish priest here at Whitford Parish.  Please come and say hello and introduce yourself after Mass in the foyer.  Also sincere thanks to my predecessor Fr Joe, my assistant Fr Truc, the Parish staff and many of you who have so warmly welcomed me during the week.  I am grateful to Fr Joe for his amazing work over the last fifteen years that leaves a healthy and vibrant Parish community.  I am truly humbled to succeed him.  I kindly ask for your cooperation and prayers during this transition time.  It will take a while for me to get our Parish bearings and of course some of your names – please bear with me as all these begin to sink in. Please feel free to contact me if you’ve any questions; Fr Truc, our secretaries and or myself will assist the best we can.  Please don’t shy away.  With many blessings to you and your families – Fr Cyp.

Our Parish

We commit ourselves as a community to place the Gospel at the centre of all that we do, and to make explicit this Gospel wherever possible.

We commit ourselves in each group of our parish to reflect on this mission and to renew what we do in light of it.

We commit ourselves individually to participate in this mission, allowing the Gospel to penetrate our own hearts, and to live so as to be heralds of Jesus and his Gospel to others.
